Flags
Dean uses flags to make a point about theocracy, but he forgot one very familiar use of St. Andrew's cross. I'd also point him to this discussion to see why I think this particular flag is relevant to his discussion, mostly because of this (if you follow the link, scroll to "Building the Moral and Political Foundation"):
The League of The South, reviled by hate groups such as the Southern Poverty Law Center, is working very hard for the same general goals as us. In chapter 9 of The Grey Book: Blueprint for Southern Independence, the LOS describes the necessity to rebuild a Christian culture in tandem with any efforts at political reform. Their current plan of action to focus on local communities and individual change was a line of reasoning ten years in development. At one point they advocated large scale education efforts but found that ultimately success will only be achieved by individuals, families and then communities returning to the will of God and forsaking the yoke of federal tyranny one by one.
The League of The South has some nifty aims:
Once The League of the South has made "The Community of the Southern People" a reality, then we can pursue our political objectives: a return to constitutional republicanism and true federalism, or if that should prove unattainable, secession.
Secession, or self-determination, is the ultimate right of free men; and in the spirit of our Founding and Confederate forefathers, we shall, if necessary, invoke that principle once again.
I see the tongue in cheek point Dean was trying to make - but forgive me for being a bit touchy on the subject of theocracy right now.

Of course, I'm just going by what they say, and not... you know... making shit up out of nothing.

Misguided morons in denial? Definitely.
Racists? Undetermined.
How about trying not to prejudge someone based on the outward appearances, Tim? You do know we fought a war to prove that - and these people's ancestors LOST. Amazingly, they seem to have learned that part of the lesson better than you did, so how about we teach them the rest of the story - including how their misplaced loyalties continue to hurt people - but without the bigotry?
